
So far, subsidy of Rs 12.68 crore has been given for stubble management machines in the district
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 29, 2025: During the current financial year, subsidy of Rs 3.57 crore has been given for the purchase of stubble management machines in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district. Giving this information, Divisional Magistrate Mohali Mrs. Damandeep Kaur said that 191 stubble management machines have been given in the district this year.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 29, 2025: During the current financial year, subsidy of Rs 3.57 crore has been given for the purchase of stubble management machines in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district. Giving this information, Divisional Magistrate Mohali Mrs. Damandeep Kaur said that 191 stubble management machines have been given in the district this year.
She informed that from the year 2018 till now, 1369 stubble management machines have been given on subsidy in the district, for which subsidy of Rs 12.68 crore has been released. These machines are provided by the Central and Punjab Government in partnership with a subsidy of 60 and 40 percent respectively. This machinery is provided to individual farmers at a subsidy of 50 percent and to groups, panchayats and cooperatives at a subsidy of 80 percent.
During the monthly meeting to review the development works and various welfare schemes today, Dr. Gurmel Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, SAS Nagar informed him that the Government has been providing 50% machinery subsidy to individuals and 80% to Custom Hiring Centres under Crop Residue Management (CRM) Scheme for management of paddy stubble since the year 2018-19. He also informed that a total of 216 incidents of stubble burning were reported in the district during the year 2018-19, which have been recorded only 40 during the year 2024-25 due to the untiring efforts of the District Administration and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Department.
He informed that machines like baler/rake for making bales of stubble and super seeder, reverse harrow, happy seeder, chopper, mulcher etc. for mixing the stubble in the field have been provided by the Government of India. Chief Agriculture Officer SAS Nagar Nagar said that in those villages of the district where the fields are uneven and where the baler/rake machines are facing difficulty in working for stubble management, other alternative machines will be arranged in those villages and proper management of stubble will be done. Sub-divisional Magistrate Derabassi Amit Gupta was also present in this meeting.
