New Delhi- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today said that the Delhi government will introduce a bill in the upcoming monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly to regulate fee hike in private schools. According to the ordinance approved by the Cabinet on April 29, this bill will provide for imposing heavy fines on schools that arbitrarily increase fees.
Under this, schools will be fined from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for the first violation and a fine of Rs 2 to 10 lakh can also be imposed for repeated violation of the rules.
According to the bill, if the school does not refund the money within the stipulated time, the fine will be doubled after 20 days and tripled after 40 days. This means that the fine will increase for every 20 days of delay.
