Nawanshahr/Rahon- On the occasion of 76th Republic Day, the District Legal Services Authority Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized legal awareness camps at various places in collaboration with the National Labor Organization (NLO).
During these camps, the Authority’s Para Legal Volunteer and District Child Protection Task Force Member State Baldev Bharti (State Awardee) said that as per the provisions of Article-39A of the Indian Constitution, the governments will provide legal aid to the poor and weaker sections of the society with the idea that the justice system should be within their reach. Therefore, the Authority has issued a toll free number-1968 to provide free legal aid to the poor and weaker sections of the society to protect their legal rights.
He also gave detailed information about the 'POCSO Act-2012' and 'Juvenile Justice Act-2015' for the protection of children. Baldev Bharti said that against child exploitation, Child Helpline-1098 can be called, against atrocities against women, Women Helpline-1091 and for police assistance, Police Helpline-112 can be called. He also gave detailed information about the rights and welfare schemes of workers in the unorganized sector under the 'Construction Workers Welfare Act-1996' and 'Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act-2005'.
