Hoshiarpur- As per the orders of Mrs. Komal Mittal IAS, Hon'ble Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur and Dr. Harbans Kaur, Deputy Medical Commissioner Hoshiarpur; Awareness seminar on drug addiction and its treatment was organized at Shaheed Amandeep Singh Government Smart Model Senior Secondary School, Village Nara, Hoshiarpur under the leadership of Dr. Mahima Manhas, Medical Officer, District De-addiction Rehabilitation Center, Hoshiarpur by Mrs. Nisha Rani, District Manager, Prashant Adia, Counselor. The seminar was held in the presence of Principal Ravinder Kaur and Vice Principal Prabhjot Kaur.
On this occasion, Mrs. Nisha Rani, Manager, District De-addiction Rehabilitation Center Hoshiarpur said that according to the World Health Organization, drug addiction is a mental illness. Which is treated free of cost in government health institutions. She gave detailed information about the causes, symptoms and diseases associated with drug addiction.
On this occasion, Counselor Prashant Adia of District De-addiction Rehabilitation Center Hoshiarpur said that in Hoshiarpur district, free treatment is provided to get rid of drug addiction at De-addiction Center Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur and Dasuha. In which the patient is first detoxified for 15-21 days. After this, the patient is admitted to the Government Rehabilitation Center Mohalla Fatehgarh Hoshiarpur for 90 days. Where individual counseling, group counseling, spiritual counseling as well as sports and therapy are also practiced. He said that along with the treatment of de-addiction, certified skill development courses are also run so that the patient can stand on his feet.
He said that the treatment of drug addiction is done free of cost by the Health and Family Welfare Department of Punjab. If a patient comes for treatment, the addiction treatment center is committed to provide them complete treatment.
