
Despite heavy rain and hailstorm, the indefinite strike of teachers teaching disabled children continues for the 54th day today.
Nawanshahr, 28 December- The long-running strike by the Special Teachers Association at the DGSC office in Mohali against not regularizing the teachers teaching disabled children in government schools under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Authority Punjab for the last 19 years is continuing for the 54th day today. The special teachers present on this occasion raised strong slogans and demanded that their services be regularized immediately.

The special teachers present on this occasion raised strong slogans and demanded that their services be regularized immediately.
On this occasion, State President Ramesh Saharan said that our recruitment was done in 2005 as per rules, but even after 19 years we have not been regularized. We are continuously struggling but the government has not paid any heed. We are being given a meager salary. He said that in the year 2015-16, the Honorable High Court had decided to pay the outstanding amount of Rs 79587 per teacher from 2017 to 2019, which has not been released till now. He said that the employees of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Punjab have been given 3 percent annual hike but this hike has not been implemented on special teachers which is the government's negligence.
On this occasion, all the IERT and district special education teachers of Punjab have demanded that they should be regularized immediately so that their future can be secured. On this occasion, Doaba Zone Pradhan Avtar, Gurmeet Singh Mangat, Narendra Kumar, Sonika Dutta, Kulwinder Singh Bhana, Rajiv Kumar, Neeraj Katoch, Ashok Kumar, Ramandeep Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Aman Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Varinder Vohra, Vishal Vij etc. were present.
