SAS Nagar, November 9 - Water Supply and Sanitation Department in collaboration with Municipal Corporation, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar celebrated Jal Diwali festival at Jal Shuddhi Kendra, Sector-56, Mohali. On this occasion, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Mohali Mrs. Navjot Kaur and Joint Commissioner Mrs. Kiran Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Manpreet Singh attended as chief guests. On this occasion, various self-help groups of women also participated under the slogan 'Water for women, women for water'.
The guests were welcomed by Mr. Imanbir Singh Mann, Junior Engineer Mr. Amritbir Singh, Mr. Adarsh Pal Singh, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh and all the staff of Office Water Supply and Sanitation Sub Division No.4, Mohali. On this occasion, various self-help groups of women were encouraged to use water wisely. Apart from this, they were informed about the various stages of canal water purification at Jal Shuddhikaran Kendra, Sector-56, Mohali and also told about the SCADA system constructed at Jal Shuddhikaran Kendra under Amrut-1 project.
On this occasion, Mr. Amritbir Singh, Junior Engineer, gave information about various policies of the Government of India and Punjab regarding Amrut-1 and Amrut-2 projects.
He said that under the Amrut-2 project, women's self-help groups and youth will be trained in water demand management, water quality testing and water supply operations. On this occasion, Mrs. Preeti Arora, Coordinator of Self-Help Group, Water Purification Centre, Sector-56, Mohali and all the staff of Office Sub Division No.4, Mohali were present.
