Jammu- Army troops foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. Two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in the encounter. The fresh encounter comes two days after security forces killed three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack in a Srinagar forest.
The two terrorists killed in Poonch on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday during an operation codenamed 'Shivshakti' were trying to infiltrate from across the border, the army said in a post on X, "In a successful anti-infiltration operation, vigilant Indian Army troops eliminated two terrorists who were trying to infiltrate from across the Line of Control."
The swift and precise action foiled the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered.’’ The Army had earlier said in another post that Indian troops spotted suspicious activity of two persons along the fence in the general area of Poonch sector, which led to firing.
Officials said that after receiving information about a possible infiltration attempt by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in this direction, troops deployed on ambush duty spotted the infiltrators in the Maldivlan area of Degwar sector late on Tuesday night.
The terrorists opened fire and two terrorists were killed in an encounter that lasted for several hours. They said that a search operation was launched at first light and it was confirmed that both the terrorists were killed in the encounter.
