
Jalandhar Civil Hospital: Three doctors suspended, one dismissed.
Chandigarh- Three doctors have been suspended and one dismissed in the case of the death of three patients in the Jalandhar Civil Hospital due to a fault in oxygen supply recently. Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the recent deaths in the Jalandhar Civil Hospital were due to the negligence of the hospital superintendent, senior medical officer and the doctor on duty.

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the recent deaths in the Jalandhar Civil Hospital were due to the negligence of the hospital superintendent, senior medical officer and the doctor on duty.
The Health Minister said, “I regret that we could not save the lives of seriously ill patients.” He said that there were four sources of oxygen in the hospital, but the patients died due to poor management. Dr. Balbir Singh said that the technical committee formed to investigate the matter has submitted its report. He said that the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr. Raj Kumar, SMO Dr. Surjit Singh and anesthesia specialist Dr. Sunakshi have been suspended and house surgeon Dr. Shivinder Singh has been dismissed from services.
He said that negligence will not be tolerated at any cost, hence it was necessary to give exemplary punishment. The Health Minister said that a detailed investigation will be conducted into the entire matter. He said, “The other three doctors may also be dismissed from the services and they may not even get retirement benefits.”
