A dharna was held in front of Kirat Bhawan to get Rs 26000 per month and other rightful demands of the workers. On this occasion, laborers/employees/Punjab government contract workers/outsource workers from all over Punjab participated in the protest.

Speaking on this occasion, Mangat Ram Pasla, Bant Singh Brar, Amarjit Singh Asal, Shiv Kumar, Natha Singh, Surinder Kumar Sharma, Iqbal Singh, Rajinder Singh, Kulwant Singh Bawa and other leaders said that the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab has And in collusion with big businessmen, the Nadar Shahi decision has been implemented on the industrial workers, kiln workers and employees of Punjab that the daily working time will be increased from 8 hours to 12 hours.

The speakers said that there has been no increase in minimum wages since 2012 and repeated meetings and petitions are not having any effect on the government. They demanded that the minimum wages of workers should be increased immediately, the minimum wages of unskilled workers should be fixed at Rs 26000 per month and the wages of workers working in the above categories should be increased with the same ratio.

The speakers demanded that the minimum wages of the kiln workers should be fixed as per the recommendations of the committee formed by the Labor Commissioner, Punjab. The loss caused by unseasonal rains in the kiln industry should be considered as a natural calamity and compensation should be given to the workers by the Punjab government. Along with this, Anganwadi workers, helpers, Asha workers and mid-day meal workers should be brought under minimum wages by giving them the status of workers and the vacant posts of all departments should be filled.

The speakers demanded that the demands of the paledars be accepted immediately. The contract system should be abolished and direct payments should be made by forming boards like in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Maharashtra. Work should be guaranteed, minimum wage laws should be implemented. EPF and ESI should be deposited and implemented as per law and demands of laborers, employees should be accepted.
