The main purpose of this visit by the society team was to meet the headmistress of the school, Madam Surekha Rani. Due to whose tireless efforts and dedication, even today about 208 children are studying in this school. Headmistress Madam Surekha Rani and Center Head Teacher Surinder Kumar Ji, while talking to the office bearers of the society, said that when Madam Ji joined this school; At that time, 77 children were studying in the school and the building of this school was in a very dilapidated condition and the water from the streets outside the school used to enter the rooms.
Due to which the children had to face a lot of difficulties in studying. Seeing the problems of the children, Madam Surekha Rani Ji spent from her good earnings; she built a room for an office in the school and laid the floor of the school and went door to door to request the parents to increase the school attendance of the children and arranged a school van for the convenience of the children by spending from her own money.
Madam Surekha Rani Ji said that she has been serving in the field of education for the last 16 years and she herself is a triple post graduate in the subjects of History, Hindi and Political Science. And she has obtained higher education like MCA etc. along with PGDCA. She served as a teacher in Sainik School from 2008 to 2018 and after that she was directly appointed as the headmistress in the same school in 2019.
On this occasion, Baljinder Mann, present, said that it is a matter of pride for our Mahilpur town that teachers like Madam Surekha Rani are serving in the educational sector. Due to which the future of our schools and the children studying there is very bright. The children of this school are making our constituency shine in studies and sports at the district level. Satish Kumar Soni, founder president of Adarsh ??Social Welfare Society Punjab, and Joint Secretary Block Santokh Singh said that under the leadership of Madam Surekha Rani, this government elementary school of Mahilpur is making great strides.
But it is being neglected by the state government where there are two teachers to teach more than 200 children. To fill the gap of the remaining teachers, Madam Surekha Rani ji has hired two madams from her salary. While according to the government rules, it is necessary to have one teacher to teach 30 children. Here, seven teachers are needed. But the teachers of this school are exposing the government's claims of education reform.
He said that the teachers of the state's schools do not need foreign training. Our schools need hardworking and dedicated teachers like Madam Surekha Rani. He said that the Adarsh ??Social Welfare Society demands from the state government through the Punjab Press that the government should come out of the rhetoric of claims and appoint capable teachers in schools, recognizing the reality, so that our children can get proper education.
