Nawanshahr- Under the able guidance of Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, the Health Department is trying to provide quality maternal and child health services in the district. To achieve this objective, under the “Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Matritva Abhiyan”, quality antenatal care services are being provided to pregnant women to reduce maternal mortality rate. During this, pregnant women were motivated to adopt a healthy lifestyle to ensure safe delivery.
On this occasion, Medical Officer Dr. Ritu Deepti said that an estimated 30 thousand pregnant women die every year in the country, which is a matter of serious concern. If proper health checkups are done from time to time for pregnant women, especially high-risk women, then the health problems of mother and child can be reduced to a great extent. In all government institutions, special checkups are done by specialist doctors on the 9th and 23rd of every month for the safe delivery of high-risk pregnant women. The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Matritva Abhiyan started by the Health Department for the safety of needy and pregnant women is proving to be beneficial for needy pregnant women.
