
More than 4.61 lakh road accidents occurred in the year 2022, 1.68 lakh people lost their lives.
New Delhi (Paigam-e-Jagat)-According to a report of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, a total of 4,61,312 road accidents took place in the year 2022, in which 1,68,491 people lost their lives while 4,43,366 people were injured.

In this report titled 'Road Accidents in India-2022' released by the Ministry, it has been said that the number of road accidents has increased by 11.9 percent on an annual basis and the rate of deaths due to them has increased by 9.4 percent.
An increase of 15.3 percent was recorded in the number of people injured in accidents. According to the report, 1,51,997 i.e. 32.9 percent of the total road accidents in the country in 2022 occurred on expressways and national highways. While 1,06,682 i.e. 23.1 per cent accidents occurred on state highways while 2,02,633 i.e. 43.9 per cent accidents occurred on other roads. This annual report of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is based on the data/information received from the Police Departments of the States/UTs.
