Birmingham, July 3 - The second Test match between India and England is being played at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. The second day of play is underway today and India has scored 558 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the first innings. Currently, Shubman Gill has scored 260 runs.
Gill has become the Indian captain to play the highest innings with these runs and he has broken Virat Kohli's record of 254 runs. Kohli had played an unbeaten 254 runs against South Africa in Pune in the year 2019.
Apart from this, Shubman has become the Indian to play the highest innings in England. He has also broken Sunil Gavaskar's record of 221 runs against England at The Oval in 1979.
