Garhshankar, June 18- Bahujan Samaj Party Punjab President Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri today held a massive protest in front of the DSP office here and sent a memorandum to the Governor of Punjab and strongly put forward his three important demands. The demands of the protesters mainly included the insult of Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar ji's statues, the demand to close the illegal liquor shops opened on the holy land of Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, the demand to end the drug mafia in Punjab and the demand to improve the deteriorating law and order situation.
Before this protest in Garhshankar city, a protest march was taken out in the city. Before the fury march, all the party workers started this fury march by bowing their heads on the land of Sri Khuralgarh Sahib. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri directly attacked the Punjab Government and said that this government had made many promises and guarantees to the common people, which have proved to be a big joke with the mentality of innocent people.
He said that today in Punjab, murders are taking place in broad daylight, shops of shopkeepers are being looted, looting has become a common thing. Even animals of people are being stolen in the villages, the safety of life and property of people is in danger. The government's arrangements are proving to be a complete failure.
Karimpuri specifically mentioned two incidents that took place in village Khanpur, in which cases have been registered against common people by the police. He also strongly condemned the irresponsible language used by the Home Minister of the country against Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar ji in the House and also said that after such language, incidents of damaging statues have become common in Punjab and the state government has completely failed to stop these incidents.
Referring to the incidents in Punjab, he said that after Amritsar on 26 January, this incident has happened for the second time in Nangal, Batala, Jagraon, Hoshiarpur, Phillaur of Jalandhar district and the seventh incident has happened in Nurpur Jattan Garhshankar assembly constituency. Referring to the death of many people due to poisonous liquor in Punjab, he mentioned the incidents that happened in Sangrur, Majitha and Ludhiana and said that the result of the war that the Punjab government is waging against drugs is that people are dying due to the sale of poisonous liquor. The war of the Punjab government has completely failed.
He said that the most disturbing thing is that unauthorized liquor shops have been opened in Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, the land of Sahib Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji, which cannot happen without the cooperation of the state government. Karimpuri said that we demand that the accused who desecrated Baba Sahib in Nurpur Jattan should be arrested immediately and wherever statues of great men of Bahujan Samaj are installed across Punjab, strict security should be provided by the Punjab and Central Government.
Liquor contracts and unauthorized shops should be closed from Shri Khuralgarh Sahib, the Charan Paduka Sthal of Sahib Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji, a symbol of faith of the Sangat, and the elimination of drug mafia from all over Punjab should be ensured. Citing FIR number 161, 163 year 2024 registered in Police Station Garhshankar, he said that in village Khanpur, the police tortured the common people, broke the household goods and action should be taken against the officers responsible for this inhuman behavior. Both the FIRs should be canceled and justice should be given to the victims.
