Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonam Chaudhary reviews rural development works

Nagar, February 19, 2025:- Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, while reviewing the rural development works with the officials of various departments at the District Administrative Complex, has ordered to complete the various projects/works going on in the district within the stipulated time and without delay.

During the meeting with the officials of various departments of the district, he said that the projects/works going on in the district should be expedited so that the works started can be completed within the stipulated time. The Additional Deputy Commissioner reviewed the cleaning of drains, playgrounds, ponds, removal of illegal encroachments from Shamlat land, libraries being built in villages and various other development works.
He asked the BDPs to tell the names of the villages in their constituency where the drains are to be cleaned so that the drains can be cleaned before the rains. The Additional Deputy Commissioner also asked the MNREGA workers to get as many various works done as possible under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Sonam Chaudhary asked to plant saplings in villages under MNREGA, construct as many ponds as possible under Common Water Tank Scheme, develop infrastructure for rain water conservation in schools and ensure participation of MNREGA workers in making playgrounds.
He also directed the officers of departments related to rural development to personally go to the field and monitor the projects. Under Punjab Skill Development Mission, 850 children are to be trained by the District Employment Bureau under various schemes like Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, Punjab Hunar Vikas Yojana and CSR Scheme, out of which 700 children are being trained and 150 children are yet to be trained. The ADC asked the District Employment Bureau to speed up its work so that employment can be provided to as many unemployed people as possible.
Sonam Chaudhary said that the BDPOs of the district should personally inspect the cleanliness system of the villages. The Additional Deputy Commissioner asked all the officers including the BDPOs to speed up the development works and pay personal attention to the ongoing works. To complete the development works going on in the district, he asked the officials of all the departments to submit the progress report of the works from time to time. Along with this, he instructed the officials of PWD and Mandi Board to strengthen the berms of the roads so that the roads can be saved from damage in case of water coming.
He appealed to complete the works going on under solid and liquid waste in the villages expeditiously within the stipulated time. He obtained information from the BDPO about the development works being done in the villages and instructed them to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the eligible persons at the ground level. During the meeting, he reviewed the schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Vishwakarma Yojana, Aatma Yojana, PW Works, Swachhata Survey etc. and also instructed the concerned departments to provide the utilization certificate soon.
He reviewed the works going on under the MPLAD scheme and asked to complete them on time. During the meeting, the officials of the Agriculture Department informed that under the ongoing Crop Residue Management Scheme for stubble management, machines have been purchased by 144 individual farmers so far and 47 machines have been purchased by 13 farmer groups. He also informed that an amount of Rs 3 crore 57 lakh 1620 has been received for providing subsidy and so far the process of releasing it directly through banks in the accounts of 191 beneficiaries has been done and verification of the remaining machines is going on.
With special focus on sports in the villages of the district, 154 playgrounds are to be constructed, out of which 88 have been constructed and work is in progress on 48. So far, about Rs 761.31 crore has been spent on these works. Mrs. Chaudhary informed that under agroforestry, action is underway to implement agroforestry on 05 acres of land in village Kuranwala in Derabassi, 2.5 acres in Nabipur in Kharar, 17 acres in Bhajheri, 2.5 acres in village Mazra in Majri and 1.5 acres in village Dairy in Mohali.
On this occasion, SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur, SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta, District Development and Panchayat Officer Baljinder Singh Grewal, all BDPOs, senior officers of PWD and other departments were present.
