
Health Department launches dengue screening campaign in all districts

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 18: The anti-dengue teams of the District Health Department conducted a special inspection at all the places (hot spots) in the entire district from 9 am to 12 pm today. Where more cases of dengue fever have been reported in the past few days. Senior Health Officer Dr. Girish Dogra said that today the health teams conducted a house-to-house container inspection in different areas of all the health blocks of the district and also informed the people about the symptoms, causes and prevention of dengue fever. The health teams specially inspected all those places where more cases of dengue are being reported or have been reported. The teams went from house to house and inspected the potential breeding places of mosquito larvae. Senior officers monitored the campaign. Dr. Dogra said that a large-scale campaign is being run across Punjab under the leadership of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh to prevent dengue fever. Under which every Friday morning, all senior health officials inspect the inspection, spraying and awareness campaign at different places. He said that the health department has launched a strong attack on the mosquito that spreads dengue and the cooperation of the people is also very much needed for its eradication.
He said that dengue is a fever that is caused by the bite of a mosquito named Aedes aegypti. Common symptoms of dengue include severe headache and high fever, pain in muscles and joints, pain behind the eyes, bleeding from the nose, mouth and gums when the condition worsens, nausea and vomiting etc. Dengue-spreading mosquitoes breed in stagnant clean water such as in coolers, water tanks, flower pots, trays behind refrigerators, broken/abandoned utensils and empty tires and water drums etc.
