Hoshiarpur- Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee today organized a big ‘Save the Constitution Rally’ at City Center, Hoshiarpur located on Jodhamal Road. Hundreds of workers and public representatives including Congress leaders participated in this rally.
Addressing the rally, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wading alleged that the central government is trying to destroy the basic spirit of the Constitution. He made a sharp attack on the ideology of the RSS and said that the Congress is ready to go to any extent to protect the Constitution. He said, “We will bring the country back on the path of the Constitution and will firmly fight against the anti-Constitutional forces.”
He alleged that RSS chief Golwalkar never accepted the Constitution framed by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar because it was collected from many countries. This thinking is the biggest attack on the Constitution of the country today.
Raja Wading further said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann along with Home Minister Amit Shah has acted against the Constitution by using lathis on the farmers who were protesting at midnight. This clearly shows that he is in league with BJP. He appealed to the people to strengthen Sundar Sham Arora ji in the upcoming elections because he has always been a friend of the people.
At the end of the rally, former Cabinet Minister Sundar Sham Arora said that the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad had said that if the Constitution is implemented according to its original spirit, it can serve every class. But today's government is not running the country according to the Constitution. He said that the institution of justice, the judiciary, is also facing secret threats today which is a big threat to democracy.
Subhash Sharma (INTUC), Sandeep Sandhu, former MLAs, Chairman, Councilor, Panch-Sarpanch, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI and many other workers participated in this rally. A huge crowd of workers had started gathering since noon, and by four in the evening, the entire area was filled with Congress supporters.
