Calgary (Canada), January 4 - The monthly meeting of North Calgary Seniors Society was held in the open hall of Livingston Community Centre. State Immigration Minister Yasin Muhammad was the chief guest. In the beginning, tribute was paid to former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh. Patron Kulwant Rai Sharma welcomed Minister Yasin Muhammad and new members. Dr. Arjan Ghuman said that exercise helps prevent many types of cancer. He also gave information about various methods of exercise.

Paramjit Singh Bhanghu of Shivalik TV paid tribute to the martyrs by reciting Jaimal Padda's poem 'Haq Sach Diya Rahiya Teri Reet Na Bhulai'. Sukhmander Gill created a musical atmosphere by presenting the ghazal 'Tu jo nahi to kuch bhi nahi hai' and Heer's Kalam. Minister Yasin Muhammad said that funds are provided by his ministry to work against racism and encourage participation in inter-cultural activities.
Apart from this, "Immigrant Impact Awards" are given for significant contributions in technology, science, business etc. He said that serving humanity is the best work in which Sikhs are pioneers. Bikar Singh Sandhu created an atmosphere of nostalgia by singing a song from a film, the lyrics were "Zindagi dene wale sun, teri duniya se dil bhar gaya". Tariq Malik presented a wonderful poem on the arrival of the new year "Meri dharti se sabki dharti tak, husn hi husn zindagi ho jaaye. Jinke dil mein pyaar bhara hai, dard-o-gham se nijaat paate hain". Tarlok Singh Chugh told jokes.
Shiv Kumar Sharma presented a poem. Jagdev Sidhu presented his poem titled "Duhai" and gave a message of peace for the coming year. Baljit Singh Pandher gave details of historical events during the martyrdom week. Dr. Raman Gill said that the days of martyrdom give us the message of living with bravery and progress.
He stressed the need to make children aware of this history. Sant Singh Dhaliwal, Manju Agarwal, Indrajit Dhaliwal, Gurmeet Sarpal, Jag Sahota and Rajesh Angral discussed on various topics.
