Hoshiarpur- The second National Lok Adalat of the year was organized in the district today by the District Legal Services Authority Hoshiarpur on the directions of Punjab State Legal Services Authority SAS Nagar. In this Lok Adalat, cases under Section 138 of the NI Act, (pending and pre-litigation bank recovery cases and labor dispute cases), Motor Accident Claims Cases (SACT), Electricity and Water Bills (excluding non-negotiable), Matrimonial Disputes, Traffic Challans, Revenue Matters and other civil, less serious criminal matters and domestic disputes etc. were kept.
This Lok Adalat was organized under the able leadership of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Rajinder Agarwal.
In this Lok Adalat, a total of 19 benches were formed in Hoshiarpur, out of which 8 benches were formed in Hoshiarpur Judicial Court, 2 benches in Sub-Division Dasuha, 2 benches in Mukerian and 2 benches in Garhshankar and 5 benches were formed in the Revenue Court. 23,658 cases were heard in the Lok Adalat of District Hoshiarpur and 19,436 cases were disposed of on the spot, along with awards of a total of Rs. 8,870,264,341 were passed by the parties.
On the occasion of this National Lok Adalat, special help desks were set up by the police department employees for the persons who came for payment of traffic challans so that the traffic challans issued in the courts could be paid easily. During this National Lok Adalat, District and Sessions Judge Rajinder Agarwal along with CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Neeraj Goyal visited the benches of the Lok Adalat.
Bar Association Hoshiarpur extended full support to complete this Lok Adalat in a better manner. Neeraj Goyal appealed to the people to take maximum benefit by registering cases in Lok Adalats as it saves time and money. The decisions taken in Lok Adalat are final and there is no appeal against it, this increases mutual love between both the parties.
