Hoshiarpur- The accused involved in various cases was injured during an encounter with the police in the maize fields on the banks of the Bist Doaba canal, near the pool of Ajnoha village. 
As soon as the information about this incident was received, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, SPD Dr. Mukesh Kumar, DSP Chabewal Parminder Singh, Police Station In-charge Inspector Baljit Singh Hundal, Police Station In-charge Mahilpur Palwinderpaljit Singh, Police Post In-charge Dilbagh Singh and other police personnel reached the spot.
SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik said on the spot that several cases have already been registered against the injured accused Sarabjit alias Pawa, resident of Ajnoha. Today, the police were searching for him by forming different teams. The police received information that Sarabjit alias Pawa was present in the area. 
As soon as the police came to know, they set up a blockade. When he came to the area and the police tried to stop him, he fired at the police party. When the police fired in the air, he fired another shot. On this, the police party fired back, which hit him in the leg.
He has been sent to the Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur for treatment. He will be questioned after his health improves. The SSP said that two shells and a country-made pistol have been recovered from the scene of the incident and the police are investigating.
