Patiala: - On May 25, the state meeting of Class Four Government Employees Union Punjab was held under the chairmanship of state president Darshan Singh Lubana. At the beginning of the meeting, two minutes silence was observed to pay tribute to the soldiers, firefighters and other persons who were martyred during the tense situation between India and Pakistan. Addressing the meeting, state leaders of the organization Ranjit Singh Ranwan, Sukhdev Singh Surtapuri, Jaswinder Pal Ughi, Gurmel Singh Melde, Mela Singh Punnwal, Jaspal Singh Gadhera, Raj Kumar Ranga, Jagmohan Naulakha, Baljinder Singh, Ramesh Kumar Barnala, Ram Lal Raman, Tarlok Singh Amritsar, Kuldeep Singh, Rinku Moga accused the Punjab government of miserably failing to fulfill all the election promises made to seven lakh employees and pensioners of Punjab before the Punjab Assembly elections even after completing its three-year term. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann due to his arrogance is adopting the path of crushing and defaming the movements instead of resolving the issues by talking to the protesting organizations.
The Aam Aadmi Party government is neither making all types of casual, contract and outsourced employees permanent nor is it eliminating the faulty contract and outsource system from the departments nor is it making regular recruitment of Group D employees. The promise of restoring the old pension to about two lakh employees recruited before January 2004 in various government and semi-government departments of Punjab is still hanging in the balance. The multiplier of 2.59 recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission of Punjab for pensioners has also not been implemented.
The Punjab Government has cleared the arrears of five and a half years of salary and pension revised by the Sixth Pay Commission of Punjab. The State of Punjab has lagged far behind the Central Government and many states in the matter of distributing four installments of DA. Four installments of dearness allowance at the rate of 13 percent for the employees and pensioners of Punjab have become due to the Punjab Government. Instead of implementing the decisions made by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in favor of the employees in respect of letters dated 15/1/15 and 17/7/2020, the Punjab Government is using every excuse to avoid implementing these decisions.
During the meeting, it was jointly decided by the organizations related to Punjab Subordinate Services Federation 1680 Sector 22B Chandigarh etc. that the state conference being organized at Shaheed Nachattar Singh Dhaliwal Bhawan, Bus Stand Moga on Sunday 1 June 2025 at 11 am will be fully participated and quotas were allotted to various districts. Apart from this, they strongly supported the nationwide strike being called on July 9 against the anti-people policies of the Modi government at the Center and decided to participate in large numbers in the joint rallies to be held at various places in Punjab.
It was decided in the meeting that the district committees of the union would be formed soon.
