Hoshiarpur- MLA Brahmshankar Jimpa today reviewed the pathetic condition of Hoshiarpur-Una road and demanded from the Central Government that the road should be repaired immediately in view of the heavy influx of pedestrians and safe traffic and the officials of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) should be forced to improve the condition of the road.
He expressed concern over the broken national highway and lack of berms at many places in Vankhandi on Una road along with the officials of civil administration and Public Works Department and said that the officials of NHAI should immediately inspect this road and get it repaired.
MLA Jimpa has appealed to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari through a written letter on this serious issue that the condition of this road should be improved keeping in mind the movement of a large number of devotees during major religious events including Baba Balak Nath and Hola Mohalla in the coming days.
He said that there are 100 to 200 meter deep potholes all around the road and due to the present condition of the road, any kind of accident can happen, for which steps should be taken to improve the condition of the road as soon as possible. He said that thousands of vehicles from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh come and go on this road daily and it is the primary responsibility of NHAI to ensure safe traffic.
MLA Brahmashankar Jimpa demanded immediate action in this matter from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and said that the present condition of the road is very pathetic at many places and there are no berms at many places.
He said that on this matter related to safe traffic, orders should be given to the NHAI officials to immediately improve the condition of this road, so that thousands of people from both the states who travel daily can get great relief. Additional Deputy Commissioner Nikas Kumar and other concerned officials were also present on this occasion.
