
Bribe worth Rs 24 lakh! SDM's steno arrested along with cash by Vigilance Bureau
Chandigarh: Under the zero tolerance policy adopted by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Steno Jatinder Singh posted at SDM's office, District Raikot, Ludhiana on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 24,06,000.
Chandigarh: Under the zero tolerance policy adopted by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Steno Jatinder Singh posted at SDM's office, District Raikot, Ludhiana on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 24,06,000.
Disclosing this here on Friday, an official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the arrest was made following a complaint filed by a resident of village Sukhana, Tehsil Raikot, District Ludhiana.
The complainant has alleged that SDM Raikot and his steno Jatinder Singh, a resident of village Nurpura, Tehsil Jagraon, are charging a huge amount of money from the common people for doing government work.
Acting on the information, the Vigilance Bureau team questioned the accused Steno Jatinder Singh and during the search of his office, cash worth Rs. 24 lakh 6 thousand was recovered from a cupboard.
The accused failed to disclose the details of this cash and the Vigilance Bureau team arrested him. In this regard, a case has been registered at the Vigilance Bureau police station Ludhiana Range under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
