SAS Nagar, December 9 - General Categories Welfare Federation Punjab Mohali unit president Jasvir Singh Gadang has demanded from the BJP government at the center that in view of the problems faced by the general category people, Gujarat pattern and general categories should be introduced at the centre. A commission should be established for the people.

In a statement issued here, Garang said that the commission formed by the BJP government of Gujarat for the general category has been running very well for the last six years and the people of the general category have full hope from the BJP that this party is equal to all classes. Taking care can take some decisions for the people of the general category as well.

Garang said that now there is a need to reconsider the policy of reservation because poverty does not come by looking at caste and nowadays many people belonging to the general category are also living below the poverty line while the scheduled castes are living below the poverty line. There has arisen a class of very rich people who are a huge obstacle in the way of uplifting the standard of living of the poor people of their own community. These same people are taking advantage of reservation again and again. He said that like the BC category, the extent of creamy layer should be fixed in Schedule Castes so that people belonging to Schedule Castes can get maximum benefits.

S Gardang has demanded from the Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi and the central government that the basis of reservation should be made economic and also at the center a commission should be established to listen to the problems of the general class people. He also appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to start the General Category Commission as soon as possible.
