
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar residents ran against drugs under the 'War Against Drugs' campaign.
Nawanshahr- A grand marathon was organized by the District Administration, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar today under the 'War Against Drugs' campaign being run by the Punjab Government to make people aware about the ill effects of drugs.

In this marathon organized from ITI Ground Nawanshahr under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh and SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh, MLA Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi and eminent personalities of the district, besides officers of various departments, employees, students, teachers, players, village Panch-Sarpanchs, members of youth clubs, volunteers, trainers of CM Yogshala and residents of the district participated in large numbers and took the pledge to play a leading role in the fight against drugs and also did their duty to create awareness about the ill effects of drugs.
The marathon, which started at 6.30 am from ITI Ground Nawanshahr with the tunes of the band of Shivalik Public School students, passed through Raja Hospital, Baradari Bagh, Government Rehabilitation Center and Baba Sahib Dr. BR Ambedkar Chowk and ended back at ITI Ground.
Throughout the marathon route, a specially prepared vehicle with audio system and awareness banners gave the message of making the district drug-free. MLA Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi said on this occasion that the Punjab government is connecting the youth with sports and other constructive activities for a healthy and prosperous Punjab and employment opportunities are being created on a large scale.
He said that a people's movement against drugs has arisen and soon a drug-free Punjab will become a miss letter to you. Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said on this occasion that the main purpose of this marathon is to make the youth aware of the ill effects of drugs as well as to increase the participation of the society in the war against drugs. They all joined hands and called upon to take a united stand against drugs.
SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh said on this occasion that the district police has launched a major campaign under the 'War Against Drugs' to eradicate drugs, which will be completed soon. During this, the winners of the marathon were honored with gifts. Apart from this, saplings were distributed to all the participants and refreshments were also given to them. A large number of memorable pictures were taken by the participants at the selfie stands set up on this occasion.
