
Three-day training program on hospital safety and disaster management begins.
Una, May 1- A three-day training program on hospital safety and disaster management plan was inaugurated on Thursday at Regional Hospital Una under the aegis of District Disaster Management Authority Una. The program was chaired by Dr. Sanjay Mankotia, Medical Superintendent, Regional Hospital Una.

The program was chaired by Dr. Sanjay Mankotia, Medical Superintendent, Regional Hospital Una. During this, Dr. Mankotia, while addressing the participants, said that in view of the changing climate scenario and increasing natural and man-made disasters, it is very important for all government and private health institutions to effectively implement disaster management plans. He said that every health institution should conduct two to three mock drills every year to assess the preparedness of the institution, availability of resources and coordination status so that timely and effective response can be ensured.
On this occasion, Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction Expert Pranav Sethi, while providing training as a resource person, said that the main objective of this program is to strengthen the ability of hospitals to deal with emergency situations. It is also to ensure that the safety of patients, visitors and staff is maintained in case of emergency and the continuity of essential services is not affected.
Training and Capacity Building Coordinator of District Disaster Management Authority Una, Rajan Kumar Sharma, informed about the objectives of the training program. He said that this program will prove helpful in giving rapid response to the hospitals in emergency situations, ensuring quick restoration and establishing effective coordination at the district level.
About 55 medical officers, paramedical staff, staff nurses and other health workers from Ayush Department of District Una, Regional Hospital Una, private clinics, government hospitals, block level civil hospitals, primary health centers and Disaster Management Authority are participating in the training. This program is an important initiative towards disaster preparedness and strategic planning of hospitals.
