Hisar: – Superintendent of Police Hansi Amit Yashvardhan said that at present, people wishing to travel abroad are being cheated on a large scale by fake travel agents in the name of getting visas. This trend is especially making the youth their victims, who dream of going abroad to study or work.
Superintendent of Police Hansi said that the trend of going abroad is continuously increasing among the citizens of a prosperous state like Haryana, sensing which criminal type of travel agents and brokers are luring people with false and attractive promises through the Internet, social media and fake websites.

*Fake advertisements on social media*
These fake agents put advertisements on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp for highly attractive offers, visa at low cost, work permit without interview etc.
After taking money, these agents give fake documents, fake flight tickets and visas or keep misleading people that "the process is going on"*

*Sending abroad through illegal route*
In many cases, people are first taken to countries like Mexico, Cuba, Malaysia in the name of taking them to America or Australia and from there they are illegally made to cross the border on foot, boat, container or through forests.

*Risk to life and inhuman conditions:
During this dangerous journey, people have to pass through dense forests and deserted areas. They have to face accidents like bites of poisonous animals, dying of cold, sinking of boat or suffocation in container.

*Becoming a victim of crime*
Many times, on reaching abroad, their passports are snatched and they are forcibly pushed into illegal activities like drug smuggling, making fake documents, prostitution etc.

*Tips for caution* Contact only government recognized travel agents. Be sure to check the registration number, office address, past record, and online rating of the agent. Get complete information before making any kind of advance payment. Be cautious of highly attractive offers appearing on social media or unknown websites.
