Hisar: – Pawan Kumar, a farmer of Gurana village in Haryana's Hisar district, has proved that anyone can change their fate with hard work, correct information and taking advantage of government schemes. Apart from traditional farming, Pawan not only made himself self-reliant by adopting white shrimp fish farming, but also set an example for other farmers and youth of the area.

Government scheme became a support*
Under the schemes being run by the state government to promote fisheries, Pawan Kumar received training and financial assistance for this business. The special thing is that people of Scheduled Castes and women of all other castes are being given 60 percent subsidy by the government, so that they can start this business at low cost. Apart from these, other people can also take advantage of this scheme, they are being given 40 percent subsidy.
Pawan told that he started white shrimp farming on one hectare of land. Initially, there was doubt, but timely training, technical guidance and grants from the government boosted my confidence. Today, I am doing fish farming in 30 acres of land. He told that by doing fish farming on one hectare of land, one can easily earn 8 to 10 lakh rupees.

*Low cost, high profit*
Pawan tells that there is a tremendous demand for shrimp in the market. Especially in the fish markets of Delhi, the goods are sold immediately. Many times traders come here and buy fish, so there is no problem in marketing. Today, Pawan is earning about 10 lakh rupees annually from one hectare of land.
Pawan says that starting shrimp farming is very easy. Departmental officers cooperate and technical information, seeds, feed and other facilities are provided from time to time. In training camps, fish farmers are taught fish farming through scientific methods.
District Fisheries Officer Bhim Singh Beniwal and Fisheries Officer of Hansi Rajesh Kumar told that the government has implemented many schemes to promote fish farming. People should take full advantage of these schemes. Every kind of help is being provided by the department in this.
