This is the third consecutive night when bilateral firing has taken place along the Line of Control. This latest ceasefire violation by Pakistan has come at a time when tensions between the two countries are at their peak over the Pahalgam terror attack. In this attack on Tuesday, 26 tourists were killed. Meanwhile, Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi also reached Kashmir on Friday.
The people living in the border towns are in a state of panic due to the increasing tension between the two countries. In some places, the locals have now cleared the community bunkers as a precaution. According to the border people, they are hoping that the situation does not deteriorate further. After the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan in 2021, there was a period of peace in the border towns and there was no incident of cross-border firing.
