Balachaur- The contract workers union of the temporary employees of Swaraj Mazda factory, Ansaron Tehsil Balachaur staged a sit-in in front of the factory for the second day today regarding their demands. A large number of employees participated in the sit-in.

Addressing the sit-in, Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU) state president Kulwinder Singh Waraich and state secretary Avtar Singh Tari said that the temporary employees of this factory are on strike since yesterday regarding their demands. Many of these employees have been working as temporary employees for 10 years. The factory management puts a break on their attendance to keep them temporary.
These are temporary employees (skill based, casual, lifter, technology employees, flexi operator and sweeper employees) who have been kept under the contract system. He said that these employees should be linked with fixed income instead of daily wages and the minimum salary of these employees should be Rs 1500 per month.
They demanded that the wage law should be implemented in the factory, the employee should be given proper medical expenses while doing any kind of work in the factory and daily wages should not be deducted, temporary employees should also be given bonus and incentives like permanent employees. He said that the trainees who are DS. They come for training, they are forced to work. This compulsion should be stopped. They should not be made to do any work other than training. Rs 9500 should be given per month as training.
Government rules should be followed in the company. The striking employees said that if their above demands are not met within 7 days, then the employees will go on indefinite strike or take any other struggle step, for which the company and the administration will be responsible.
This protest was also addressed by IFTUC District President Gurdayal Rakkad, District Vice President Nirmal Singh Jhandi, PSU state leader Baljit Singh Dharamkot, Contract Workers Union's Nirmaljit Singh, Baljinder Singh, Jashanpreet Singh, Surinder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Gurtej Singh and Upkar Singh.
