Rs 17.58 crore given for reconstruction of roads dug for canal water: Ajitpal Kohli

Patiala, March 4- Punjab Government has given Rs 17.58 crore for the remaining construction of roads dug up by Larsen & Toubro Company for laying pipeline for 24x7 drinking canal water supply in Patiala city. These funds have been allocated to Patiala Municipal Corporation due to the efforts of Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh and MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli.

Patiala, March 4- Punjab Government has given Rs 17.58 crore for the remaining construction of roads dug up by Larsen & Toubro Company for laying pipeline for 24x7 drinking canal water supply in Patiala city. These funds have been allocated to Patiala Municipal Corporation due to the efforts of Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh and MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli. MLA Kohli said that the proposal for the roads to be constructed has been prepared and the inconvenience caused to the people due to broken roads will end in the month of April.
Patiala MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli today met Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav along with officials of Municipal Corporation, Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Public Works Department, L&T and other concerned departments to take stock of the ongoing work for repair of dug up roads in the city.
On this occasion, the officials informed that 312 km of pipeline line is to be laid for 24-hour supply of canal water in the city, out of which 192 km of pipe has been laid and the work of laying about 100 km of pipeline is going on at war footing.
MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli shared the good news with the people of Patiala and said that the first phase of canal water supply will start in July 2025. He said that 136 km of roads were dug for the work of this project, out of which 83 km of roads have been built, out of which 75 have been built by L&T, 5 by Public Works Department and 3 km by Municipal Corporation.
He said that to get this fund, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and he himself had contacted the Chief Minister. MLA Kohli said that the proposal for these roads has been prepared and very soon the work will start and in the month of April, the trouble being faced by the people due to broken roads will end.
