SAS Nagar, February 22: The district police, taking prompt action after the surfaced of a video in which two girls have alleged that Manjit Singh, a resident of Lohgarh, is supplying chitta in Lohgarh area of ??Zirakpur, registered a case against the accused and recovered the contraband substance from him.
District Police (Rural) Manpreet Singh informed that as per the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek, IPS, SSP SAS Nagar, two teams were constituted under the supervision of DSP Zirakpur Jaspinder Singh to investigate the matter.
During the operation, the person was arrested today itself and he was identified as Manjit Singh son of Nachhatar Singh resident of Lohgarh, Zirakpur. During the search, 2 grams of chitta was recovered from him and a case under section 21 NDPS Act was registered against him in FIR No. 91 dated 22-2-2025. Earlier, he was also booked in FIR 185 dated 09.05.2021 under Section 21 NDPS PS City Kharar.
The locals took this prompt action in good spirit and welcomed the police initiative.
SSP Deepak Pareekh said that SAS Nagar police welcomes suggestions and inputs in its fight against drug menace and is working under ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’.
