SAS Nagar, February 26- The holy festival of Mahashivratri was celebrated with full pomp and respect in Mohali city and nearby areas today. From the morning itself, devotees reached various temples in large numbers to pay obeisance. During this, long queues of devotees were seen in various temples since morning.
Long queues of devotees were seen in various temples of the city from early morning to offer water to the Shivling. During this, there was a crowd of devotees in various temples throughout the day. On this occasion, devotees were expressing their devotion by chanting 'Om Namo Shivay' and chanting 'Bam Bam Bhole' while receiving the blessings of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
On the occasion of Shivratri, various temples were beautifully decorated with electric lights and other decorative items. Langars were also organized at various places on the occasion of Shivratri.
Political leaders were also active on the occasion of Mahashivratri festival and they paid obeisance in temples and marked their presence. On this occasion, various leaders including constituency MLA Mr. Kulwant Singh, former minister Mr. Balveer Singh Sidhu, Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, Senior Deputy Mayor Mr. Amrik Singh Somal, Deputy Mayor Mr. Kuljit Singh Bedi, BJP District President Mr. Sanjeev Vashisht visited the temples and took blessings of Bholenath.
On the occasion of Mahashivratri, a fruit langar was organized by Shri Mahadev Welfare Club Mohali at Hari Mandir Phase 5 under the leadership of MC Baljit Kaur. On this occasion, Kaka Pushkar, Rajpal Jija, Raman Thareja, Ravi Rawat, Vivek Sharma, Sahil Khaira, Rohit Jaiswal, Kishori Lal, Manmohan Singh, Prince Sekhon, Anmol Sharma, Parminder Tinku, Iqbal Singh, Vishwajit Bobby, Akshit Mohil etc. were present.
During this, the flag hoisting ceremony was performed at Shri Vaishno Mata Mandir Phase 3B-1 Mohali on the occasion of Mahashivratri. On this occasion, Amit Marwaha, Pradhan of Mata Vaishno Mata Mandir Phase 3B 1, Pradeep Soni, Ashwani Sharma, SP Malhotra, Dinesh Sharma, Om Prakash Vij, Krishna Lal Puniyani, VK Bahil, Raman Kumar Sally, Atul Kumar, Omesh Sharma, Kailash Marwaha, Aashna, Rohan Marwaha etc were present.
During this, langar was organized on the occasion of Shivratri at Taj Tower Sector-104. Social worker Joginder Singh Jogi said that every year the residents organize langar on the occasion of Shivratri.
