
All departments should remain active for the welfare of needy children - Rajesh Dhiman
Nawanshahr- A quarterly meeting of the District Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board and District Child Welfare and Protection Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman regarding the protection of helpless, needy and legal disputed children of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. During this, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the work of the Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board and District Child Protection Unit and directed the concerned departments to remain active for the welfare of needy children.
Nawanshahr- A quarterly meeting of the District Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board and District Child Welfare and Protection Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman regarding the protection of helpless, needy and legal disputed children of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. During this, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the work of the Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board and District Child Protection Unit and directed the concerned departments to remain active for the welfare of needy children.
During this, he directed the officials of the Social Security and Women and Child Development Department to install display boards in schools and get wall painting done to make school children aware about Child Helpline 1098, so that children who are victims of any kind of exploitation can openly tell their problems. Along with this, the representatives of the Education Department were instructed to nominate a nodal teacher in each school, who will mainly resolve the problems of the children and the name and phone number of the nodal teacher should be told to every child of the school.
He said that if any child is in trouble or there is a complaint of crime against children, child labour, then he can get help by calling on child helpline number 1098. The Chairperson ordered the Child Welfare Committee to ensure the safety of children found late at night and instructed the police department to present the helpless and needy children before the Child Welfare Committee within 24 hours, such children should be provided counselling facilities as per requirement and no child should be handed over directly to his parents, it should be ensured that the child is first presented before the Child Welfare Committee. It was asked to form Prahari Club in the senior secondary schools under the Education Department. Along with this, instructions were given to install cameras at chemist or pharmacy shops selling Schedule H, H1 and X category medicines. Instructions were given to the Health Department to make arrangements for a separate de-addiction centre for children. The District Development and Panchayat Officer was instructed to inspect the performance of the village level child protection committees in the villages from time to time and all departments should establish necessary coordination for the implementation of the joint action plan provided by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
During this, District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora gave a detailed description of the work done by the Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board and District Child Protection Unit during the quarter.
