CARE-2024: CME on Anesthesia for the Elderly at Dr. BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali

SAS Nagar, 19th November 2024: The Department of Anaesthesia, Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences hosted a workshop CARE: ‘Current Developments in Regional Anesthesia for the Elderly’ under ‘Continuing Medical Education’ (CME). Experts from renowned institutions including PGI, Chandigarh, GMC Sector 32, HBC HRC and PLIBC, Fortis Hospital, Max Hospital and many other prestigious healthcare centres were present on this historic occasion.

Experts from renowned institutions including PGI, Chandigarh, GMC Sector 32, HBC HRC and PLIBC, Fortis Hospital, Max Hospital and many other prestigious healthcare centres were present on this historic occasion.

Under the guidance of Director Principal, Dr Bhavneet Bharti, CARE-2024 witnessed the participation of over 60 delegates who came together to advance their knowledge and skills in Geriatric Anesthesia. Dr. YK Batra, Senior Director, Max Hospital, Mohali graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, who stressed on the importance of such initiatives in uplifting the standard of geriatric care.

The programme, led by Dr. Pooja Saxena, Head, Department of Anesthesia, began with a lecture and discussion on safe anesthesia practices for elderly patients. Experts presented information on the latest techniques, safety protocols and emerging trends in geriatric anesthesia care. Adding to the academic fervor, resident doctors participated in e-poster and e-paper competitions showcasing research and innovations in the field. After the CME, the attendees participated in an ultrasound-guided workshop where they practiced administering the latest nerve blocks.

Led by distinguished faculty, the workshop introduced the participants to the latest techniques specially designed for the elderly. allowed them to hone their skills in using ultrasound for more precise, patient-centered anesthesia procedures.

The event was a step towards promoting collaborative learning, enhancing the expertise of the participants in regional anesthesia. CARE-2024 marked a significant step forward in advancing medical education and geriatric care by Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences to ensure safe and effective anesthesia care for elderly patients, demonstrating Dr. BR’s commitment.
