
Ban on burning of stubble and open fire near LPG bottling plant, Deputy Commissioner issued orders.
Una, April 22- Activities related to burning of stubble and any kind of open fire within a radius of 60 meters from the boundary wall of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) LPG bottling plant located at Raipur Sahoda, Mehtpur, District Una have been banned with immediate effect.

This order has been issued by District Magistrate Una, Jatin Lal, using the powers conferred under Section 33 and 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, with a view to public safety and prevention of potential disaster.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this LPG bottling plant of IOCL is a very important public facility, where bulk LPG is stored and filled in LPG cylinders for domestic use. This plant meets the domestic LPG requirements of some areas of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and stores about 900 metric tonnes of highly flammable LPG.
He said that LPG is a highly flammable substance, and burning of stubble or any other kind of open fire near the plant can pose a serious risk of fire and explosion, which can cause huge damage to life, public property and environment.
The Deputy Commissioner has directed the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Tehsildar, Police and local Panchayat officials to ensure strict compliance of the orders. Also, legal action will be taken against the persons who disobey these orders as per rules under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
