'Swachhata Hi Seva Pandarwada' concluded today on the occasion of Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrating Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.

'Swachhata Hi Seva Pandarwada' concluded today on the occasion of Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrating Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.
On the occasion of the district level program at Thapar University, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajat Ubray felicitated the Municipal Corporation Health Department and Water Supply and Sanitation Solid Waste Management Plants, Swachhata Warriors, Social Service Organizations and students playing their role in Swachhata Seva. ADC Urban Development Navreet Kaur Sekhon and Joint Commissioner Deepjot Kaur were also present with them.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav told all the citizens that it is also patriotism that we generate as little garbage as possible to make our society, city and surroundings clean. And separate wet and dry garbage in your own homes. She said that every citizen should take an oath to fulfill his responsibility for eco-friendly disposal of garbage so that garbage heaps do not form.
On this occasion, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajat Ubray appealed to the people to separate digestible waste from their homes so that compost can be made from it and plastic and other dry waste can be recycled. On this occasion, many dignitaries including District Sanitation Officer Vipan Singla, District Education Officer Sanjeev Sharma, Environmental Engineer Gurkaran Singh of Punjab Pollution Control Board, Dr. Anup Verma from Thapar University were present.
Competitions were organized for students for applying mehndi, making rangoli and posters and plants made from organic manure, cloth bags, pots and waste materials, certificates were distributed to the participants.
