The event started from the Police Line Ground and passed through various prominent places in the city and ended back at the Police Line Ground.
This marathon was successfully completed and around 3 thousand competitors participated in it. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Punjab Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Member of Parliament Dr. Rajkumar Chabewal, Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rowdy attended as chief guests and flagged off the marathon. MLA Shamchurasi Dr. Ravjot Singh, MLA Urmur Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, MLA Dasuha Karamvir Singh Ghuman, DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla, District and Sessions Judge Dilbagh Singh Johal, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, Mayor Surinder Kumar, SSP Surinder along with him on this occasion. In his address, Cabinet Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa praised this awareness campaign against drugs and said that it is very important to organize such programs to save our society and especially the youth from the evil of drugs. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is running a war-level campaign against drugs and we need the public's full support in this fight. He appealed to the people to cooperate with the police in this campaign and to give confidential information to the police about people involved in the drug trade.
Member of Parliament Dr. Rajkumar Chabewal praised the district police and administration for organizing this event and said that such awareness campaigns against drugs play an important role in our society. Due to the strictness of the Punjab Police, thousands of drug traffickers have been arrested and their conviction rate has also reached 85 percent. He said that this shows that our war against drugs is going in the right direction and it needs the cooperation of every section of the society.
The Deputy Speaker said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is moving ahead with the mission of a healthy Punjab, in which the cooperation of every section of the society is essential. The dream of drug free Punjab can be realized only when we all work together in this direction. He said that this event contributed significantly in increasing awareness against drugs and proved that a drug free society can be created only with collective efforts.
SSP Surinder Lamba welcomed the guests and appealed to the people that if anyone sells drugs in their vicinity, they can report it on the Hoshiarpur Police Drug Helpline number 95016-60318. The name and address of the informant will be kept confidential. SSP Surinder Lamba said that Harjodhveer Singh of Dasuha, Lovepreet Singh of Ferozepur and Prabhjot Singh of Sangrur stood first in the marathon. These three players were given a cash prize of Rs 5100. Rinku, Sukhwinder Singh of Fazilka, Lakshdeep Singh of Tanda, Shamsher Singh of Jalandhar and Amritpal Singh of Tarn Taran stood second. These five players were given 3100 rupees as cash prize. Arun I of Hoshiarpur, Kuldeep of Fazilka, Gagandeep Singh of Amritsar, Shubham of Batala, Neeraj of SBS Nagar, Jatinder Singh of Tanda, Mohit of Hoshiarpur, Harshdeep Singh of Pathankot, Vansh of Pathankot and Bharat of Batala stood third. These ten players were given 1100 rupees as cash prize.
