Una, August 24 - To ensure better monitoring of the arrangements in the de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in Una district, administrative officers will inspect these centers at regular intervals. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has directed the formation of a special three-member committee in every sub-division of the district, which will include the concerned SDM, DSP and BMO. This committee will inspect the de-addiction and rehabilitation centers of its area every quarter and will ensure necessary improvements by taking details of the situation there.
The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee constituted under the National Narco Coordination Portal (ENCORD). District Narcotics Coordination Committee convener Superintendent of Police Una Rakesh Singh was also present in this meeting held in Una today on Saturday.

Awareness programs should be organized in schools on drug prevention
Jatin Lal directed the Education Department to organize awareness programs in every school of the district on drug prevention. He said that other awareness programs including speeches, painting should be organized on drug prevention. He also asked to send the report of these activities to the Deputy Commissioner's office.

Mapping of illegal cultivation of cannabis and opium
The Deputy Commissioner directed all SDMs to map the areas of illegal cultivation of cannabis and opium in their area with the help of the concerned BDOs and Panchayat Pradhans under the drug prevention campaign. Emphasis was laid on public participation in destroying these crops. He appealed to the people to share information about cannabis and opium cultivation with the police and administration, and also assured that the identity of the informers will be kept secret.
Jatin Lal directed to increase surveillance in the district and said that a strict watch should be kept on drug smugglers, so that they cannot escape under any circumstances. Strict action will be ensured against them.
Make efforts together for 'drug free Una'
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all to make efforts together to make Una district drug free. He asked all the departments to run an intensive awareness campaign regarding drug prevention. Apart from this, emphasis was also laid on organizing various sports activities at school, college and panchayat level to keep the youth away from drugs, so that these activities can inspire the young generation towards a healthy life. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh urged all departments for cooperation in police efforts for drug prevention.
SDM Haroli Rajeev Thakur, SDPM Bangadha Sonu Sood, DSP Headquarters Ajay Thakur, DSP Haroli Mohan Rawat along with other officers, representatives of NGOs and various stakeholders were also present in the meeting.
