The monthly gathering of Doaba Sahitya Sabha (Registered) Garhshankar was held

Garhshankar - The monthly meeting of Doaba Sahitya Sabha (Reg:) Garhshankar (Hoshiarpur) was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Bikar Singh Pradhan at the local Gandhi Park office Sahitya Sabha and Late Major Singh Mauji Memorial Library Garhshankar. In this monthly meeting, Prof. Sandhu Varyanvi, General Secretary, Central Punjabi Writers' Association (Registered) participated as the chief guest.

Releasing the proceedings of this meeting to the press, Amrik Hamraj said that in this meeting there was a serious discussion on the issues related to Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat. Mainly protest was raised against the appointment of Mrs. Satbir Kaur Bedi, a non-Punjabi and non-education scholar, as the Chairman of the Punjab School Education Board. There was also opposition to making the fees of vocational courses in government colleges of Punjab equal to those of private colleges. The indifferent policy adopted by the present government towards the problems related to Punjabi language, literature and culture was also condemned.
Literary writers were also asked to inspire the society by writing their poems and stories on basic needs such as environmental protection, water etc. A decision was also taken to hold a seminar to make Punjabis aware of the burning issues related to Punjab. In this discussion and poetry court, Shri Prof. Sandhu Varyanvi, Principal Gurjant Singh, Dr. Bikar Singh, Amrik Hamraj, Hemraj Dhanjal, Ranbir Babbar, Master Hans Raj, Kumar Gujarat, Bhupinder Kumar Saroa, Captain Surinder Kumar, Amarjit Bangar, Principal Dalbara. Ram etc. participated. Finally, Principal Bikar Singh thanked the speakers and the audience.
