Nawanshahr- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today laid the foundation stone of 'Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Heritage Complex' here, paying tribute to the unparalleled contribution made by Shaheed Sardar Bhagat Singh to the service of the country. This prestigious project will cost Rs 51 crore 70 lakhs, which will be a humble effort to pay tribute to the great Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

Offering floral tributes from the depths of his heart to Shaheed-e-Azam, the Chief Minister said that the great sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh freed the country trapped in the swamp of slavery from the yoke of foreign imperialism. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this project will be completed in 9 months, which will become a source of inspiration for the coming generations to serve the country selflessly. He said that the aim of this important initiative is to preserve and propagate the incomparable legacy of his great son.
The Chief Minister said that this project will not be just a building structure but an unforgettable experience where one will see a glimpse of Shaheed Bhagat Singh's immortal spirit, intellectual thinking and courageous spirit for the motherland. He said that the newly built heritage complex will have a huge thematic gate which will present a glimpse of the great heritage.
He said that a 350-meter long heritage corridor will also be an important part of this project. This heritage corridor will connect the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Museum with the ancestral home of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. This corridor will depict the life journey of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and the story of India's freedom struggle through statues, 2D/3D murals, effigy and the era of colonial India.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the 30-meter high Indian flag will remind us of the great sacrifices of the patriots for the freedom of the country. He said that the auditorium with a capacity of 700 seats will be fully air-conditioned (AC) where cultural programs and seminars, among other activities, will be organized. The Chief Minister said that a model of the ancestral home of Shaheed Bhagat Singh located in Lyallpur (now in Pakistan) will be prepared.
Similarly, the ancestral village of Sardar Bhagat Singh will be depicted through different scenes and media. The Chief Minister said that the ancestral home at Khatkar Kalan will be restored and maintained and a scene of the court trial of Shaheed Bhagat Singh will also be created which will take the tourists to the past and reveal the revolutionary zeal of the martyr.
