Nawanshahr - For the last twenty years, the birthday of Lord Landsteiner, the great researcher of blood groups, is celebrated as Blood Donor Day all over the world. The Ministry of Health had invited to celebrate "Twenty Years of Blood Donation - Thank You Blood Donors" this year.
In this regard, an oath taking ceremony was organized in the local BDC under the leadership of Sulakshan Sareen. In which students of BLM Girls College, blood donors, motivators and staff participated. On this occasion, Sulakshan Sareen, DS Gidda, Parvesh Kumar, Noble Sareen, Gaurav Sareen, Dr. Ajay Bagga, Manmeet Singh Manager, Rajinder Thakur, Des Raj Bali, Birbal Khinchi, Jitendra Khanna, Mukesh Kahma, Mandana Kumari, Jaspreet Kaur, BLM College volunteers and BDC staff were present. On this occasion, Dr. Ajay Bagga shared information and said that the population of India has reached one billion forty crores.
But sadly, voluntary blood donation is not even one percent, as a result, twelve thousand patients die every year due to lack of blood supply. According to a survey, regular blood donors reduce the risk of heart attack and cancer by 80 percent. Earlier, President Sulakshan Sareen, Secretary JS Gidda and Cashier Pravesh Kumar distributed commemorative symbols like caps, badges and bracelets with messages to express the blood donation day. Finally, the function was concluded with the slogans of "Khundani Farishtiyo-Tuhada Dhanyavad".
