Nawanshahr- As the current government of Punjab during the Punjab general elections not only made many promises but also gave guarantees and also put very popular topics in front of the people of Punjab through the election manifesto.
*Out of which the promises made by the previous governments against drugs which proved to be nothing but a bed of lies. The current government also made a new promise on this subject but also gave a guarantee that if our government is formed, drugs will be completely eradicated within 3 months.*
The people of Punjab believed in these guarantees and also gave a very big mandate by winning 92 MLAs.
But on May 12/13, 2025, the government machinery confirmed the death of 17 people by the evening of the same day due to drinking spurious and poisonous liquor in the adjoining villages of Majitha constituency. This figure has reached 27 after the death of 10 others who are undergoing treatment has been confirmed so far.
Bahujan Samaj Party Punjab, considering its responsibility towards the people of Punjab, *To make the government accountable for the failure of the current government in every aspect, the progress of Punjab, the protection of people's lives and property and the deteriorating law and order situation*, Punjab State President Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri Ji along with his team met the families of the victims of this painful incident in these villages of Majitha on the same day and shared their grief with them and also demanded the administration and the government to focus on the following points:
1. According to the seriousness of the situation, the culprits should be arrested without any delay by registering an FIR.
2. In order to expose the entire system and to name other relevant parties or individuals and give exemplary punishments, a special committee with special powers should be formed under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court.
3. An amount of Rs. 1 crore should be released as immediate financial assistance to the *family* of each deceased.
4. Arrangements should be made to provide a government job to each heir of the *family* of each deceased.
The current government is only doing some lipa pochi on the issue of drugs so far, just to wipe away tears or get cheap fame, as before. Whereas a year ago, during the tenure of this government, 21 people lost their lives in Sangrur due to spurious and poisonous liquor, regarding which the government has not brought anything to the notice of the people till now and during the three years of this government's rule, countless youth are dying every day due to various types of deadly drugs and till now lakhs of houses have been destroyed in Punjab due to which *the shadow is being lifted from the heads of children, the dandori of old age is being taken away, the wedding rings of sisters are being taken away from brothers and the wedding rings of brides are being taken away.*
Whereas the Punjab government's sleep on drugs has been opened after 3 years and even now, by just beating the newspapers with the slogan of ending drugs by traveling, it is making the naive Punjabis completely stupid. We want to tell the government that *"The nefarious alliance of drug mafia, police and the ruling system" which is responsible for the destruction of Punjab, cannot save the desolated Punjab with mere pilgrimages, but instead of pilgrimage, it can be ended only with "journey" (strict punishments under strict action).*
Therefore, Bahujan Samaj Party Punjab, seeing the indifference of the governments towards the heritage of the people of Punjab and Punjabis and considering its responsibility towards the people of Punjab, has taken all sections of Punjab together under the *"Save Punjab Campaign"* and organized large gatherings on these issues at the district headquarters of the entire Punjab on 22.05.2025 to raise the voice of the government through a democratic process and has sent a memorandum to the *Honorable Governor of Punjab through the Deputy Commissioners* demanding that the government issue necessary orders to eradicate drugs to protect the interests of Punjab, Punjabiat and the people of Punjab so that every day The loss of life and property of the people can be saved in a new way.
Therefore, we appeal to you that while protecting the constitutional values, you will definitely take appropriate steps to protect the interests of the people of Punjab by thinking about this serious matter and using your influence, you will issue appropriate instructions to the government to end the nefarious alliance of "drug mafia, police and the ruling system" to eradicate drugs.
