S.A.S. Nagar, May 22- BJP District President Sanjeev Vashisht has said that officers who cannot work for the public, do not even have the right to remain in service. Mr. Vashisht said that due to the strong storm last evening, power supply was disrupted in half the city and last night due to power supply being disrupted in half the city, people had to spend the night in the heat.
He said that people troubled by the lack of power supply kept trying to register complaints by calling Powercom officials, but the condition of Powercom officials was such that they did not even pick up people's calls. He said that the government and senior officials of Powercom should take immediate action against such officers and while working in public interest, those officers should be removed from public relations who avoid understanding the problems of the people and try to run away from them.
Mr Vashisht said that after receiving complaints from the people of the city, he himself tried to talk to the Powercom officials from 10 am onwards, but there was no response from the officials.
He said that he is also writing a letter to the Chairman of Powercom in this regard. He said that the Punjab government is pretending to give free electricity to the people, but the power infrastructure is so old that even a small storm collapses the entire system and people have to spend two days without electricity. Vashisht said that Powercom does not have enough staff, due to which the problem which can be solved in a few hours takes several days to be solved.
