Una - Principal of Ashray School Dehlan, Amarjeet Kaur has been appointed as the District Youth Icon under the SVEEP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Amarjeet Kaur is visiting the shelter and Prem Ashram school to make the disabled voters aware about their voting rights. While making the disabled voters aware, it says that various facilities have been provided by the Election Commission to the disabled voters for voting. Disabled voters have also been given the option to vote from home. To choose this option, they will have to fill 12D form and submit it. Apart from this, special facilities like wheelchair, NCC, volunteers and ramp etc. are available for the disabled at the polling station so that the disabled people can cast their vote with ease. Apart from this, Amarjeet Kaur says that she is also motivating people above 85 years of age to vote.
Amarjeet Kaur says that it is very important to vote for a strong democracy so that along with a good government, a good state can be built. Apart from this, she is making people aware about the right to vote through social media. Amarjeet Kaur is also making self-help groups, Mahila Mandals and Youth Mandals aware through social media. He has appealed to the people that voting in elections is your right and do it considering it as your duty.
Amjarjeet Kaur is a resident of Ward No. 7 Dehlan. Amarjeet Kaur has obtained MA and B.Ed degrees in Sociology. Amarjeet Kaur is disabled in both legs due to polio. Presently Amjarjeet Kaur is also studying D.EdSE-IDD degree from Prem Ashram Una.
