Hoshiarpur- Powercom and Transco Contract Workers Union Punjab's state president Balihar Singh, state general secretary Rajesh Kumar, office secretary Sher Singh, press secretary Inderpreet Singh said that a continuous struggle is being carried out against the Punjab government and Powercom management to fulfill their legitimate and legitimate demands like direct inclusion of outsourcing contract workers in the department, implementation of minimum living wage as per 1948 Act, guarantee of permanent job pension to workers who died due to electric shock and became disabled and to get all the demands given in the demand letter fulfilled.
During the struggle, a meeting was held with the Finance Minister and Powercom Management officials in Chandigarh recently, which was handed over by the Finance Minister and Board Management to the Power Secretary Punjab Government for the resolution of the demands. In which the Power Secretary along with the Powercom Management had assured to resolve the demands by sitting with the employee organization and a proposal was to be placed for resolving the demands in the meeting to be held on 13 February 2025 under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema and Power Minister.
But the meeting of 19 February 2025 was postponed by Finance Minister Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema and Power Minister, due to which there is a lot of anger among the contract employees as well. In the meeting, it has been decided to hold continuous protests along with families and children in Mohali on 20 February 2025 under the banner of Sangharsh Morcha Punjab of contract employees and to participate in large numbers in the state level rally being held in Khanna on 11 March 2025.
