SAS Nagar, June 9- Shiromani Akali Dal's Mohali constituency chief sevadar Parwinder Singh Sohana has asked the ruling Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to immediately stop their actions suppressing the freedom of the press.
In a statement issued here, he said that reports of police visiting the homes of journalists and questioning them for hours are very worrying and intolerable. He said that such actions are a direct attack on the fourth pillar of democracy and are designed to intimidate and silence those who fearlessly hold the government accountable.
He said that for several days, the CID and other intelligence agencies of the Punjab government have been harassing pro-people journalists and YouTubers by summoning them and questioning them for hours.
He said that instead of resorting to such scare tactics that undermine democratic values, the AAP government should focus on administration and solve the real issues of Punjab. He warned that harassing the press does not hide the truth but rather strengthens the intentions of those committed to it.
