
Govt Polytechnic Khooni Majra to have Technology Extension Center for skill Development and Entrepreneurship in Collaboration with Central Tool Room Ludhiana
SAS Nagar, February 22: Taking an initiative in advanced and practical learning of technology related study, Technical Education and Industrial Training Department of Punjab Government is going to set up a technology extension centre at Government Polytechnic College, Khooni Majra (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar) under the Hub and Hope scheme of the Government of India.
SAS Nagar, February 22: Taking an initiative in advanced and practical learning of technology related study, Technical Education and Industrial Training Department of Punjab Government is going to set up a technology extension centre at Government Polytechnic College, Khooni Majra (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar) under the Hub and Hope scheme of the Government of India.
Divulging the details, Additional Director of the Technical Education Department Ravinder Singh Hundal said that as per the directions of Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains and Director, Amit Talwar, said that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Managing Director of Central Tool Room, Ludhiana A P Sharma and Principal Government Polytechnic College, Khooni Majra (Shahbazada Ajit Singh Nagar) Raksha Kiran, in this regard.
While congratulating the Principal Madam Raksha Kiran and all the staff members, he further said that this initiative will stop the migration of youth to abroad by increasing their technical knowledge, that will further motivate them towards self employment.
Giving more details about the collaborative project, the officer incharge of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Gurbakshish Singh Antal added that under this scheme of the Government of India, a technology extension center will be established in the college at a cost of Rs 10 Crore, wherein as per the demand of the industrial units of this region, the world-class technical workshops will be set up on the model of Central Tool Room, Ludhiana.
Principal Raksha Kiran added that with the successful completion of this agreement, new employment opportunities will be thrown opened for the youth of Shahbazada Ajit Singh Nagar, Ropar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Chandigarh.
She said that after the completion of the polytechnic education, the skills of the students will be honed and made suitable for the industrial demands.
Jagdeep Singh, Assistant Director, Training, Central Tool Room Institute, Ludhiana, who was specially present on this occasion, said that in the above center, advanced machinery and laboratories related to mechatonics, tool and die, civil engineering, electrical vehicles and computer science will be set up. Along with the training, production units will also be established under this scheme.
The collaboration with CTR Ludhiana will prove significant and beneficial for the polytechnic students who will get opportunities of advanced practical learning, said Principal Raksha Kiran.
