Chandigarh, November 24 - Municipal Corporation Mayor Mr. Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu has said that action is being taken to solve the problems of cleaning workers working in the municipal corporation. During the meeting with the representatives of Punjab Safai Mazdoor Federation, Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu assured the union members that the issues raised by them will be seriously considered and all the 15 demands raised by the union will be presented in the house meeting for serious consideration.

Mayor said that the demands raised by the unions include filling up of vacant posts, pay equity, implementation of ESI Act, PF amendment, uniforms and monthly supplies etc. The Mayor said that according to the city there is an urgent need to fill the vacancies of sanitation workers.

He said that cleaning workers have an important contribution in maintaining the cleanliness of the city. He said that the sanitation workers will be provided with necessary equipment for modern sanitation practices in the next 2-3 days.
