Implementing the decision taken in the recent Municipal Corporation meeting in Chandigarh, the Mayor has given a Diwali gift to the people. From December 1, parking of two-wheelers has been made free in all the parking lots in the city. Till now, vehicle owners had to pay Rs 7 as fee for this.

In the meeting of the corporation, a proposal was passed for free parking of two-wheelers and electric vehicles in Chandigarh under the smart parking policy. A proposal was passed to charge double the fees from vehicles coming from outside. Administrator Banwari Lal had objected to this.
The Municipal Corporation is working on a smart parking project in Chandigarh, under which automatic boom barriers will be installed at the entry and exit of the parking lot. The Municipal Corporation may issue a tender for this this month.
